The use of optical methods for studying turbulent structures
Abstract
Experiments are described in which the local optical probing method was used to investigate the structure of turbulent flow of water and steam in a round heated pipe. Measurements conducted by the local probing method using a He-Ne laser are in good agreement with results obtained by laser Doppler anemometry. Detailed measurement results and a schematic diagram of the experimental apparatus are presented.
