A CCD camera for guidance of 100-cm balloon-borne far-infrared telescope.
Abstract
A CCD camera using the 488×380 element Fairchild CCD 222 imaging device has been developed for guidance of the 100-cm balloon-borne far-infrared telescope. The hardware consists of an imaging device along with its associated optics, a clock generating circuitry, the clock drivers, an 8086 microprocessor-based system, and the power supplies. The software processes the CCD image data and uses a selected star in its field of view as the guide star for pointing the telescope with an accuracy of around 4 arc s. The system is expected to work up to a limiting star magnitude of mB = 7.5.
