High power, high-efficiency quasi-CW two-dimensional laser diode arrays
Abstract
Optical output power densities of 2000 W/sq cm have been obtained from 0.4 sq cm and 0.2 sq cm stacked AlGaAs laser arrays with electrical-to-optical conversion efficiencies of 43 percent for pulse widths of 200 microsec. Arrays were assembled to facilitate back-cooling, and a five-bar stack was operated at 8 percent duty cycle with an average output power of 24 W.
