Birefringence compensation in electrooptically Q-switched solid state lasers - Theoretical aspects
Abstract
An E-O Q-switched laser resonator allowing birefringence compensation in both active element and E-O crystal is theoretically studied using the Jones matrices method. For appropriate orientation of the electrooptical crystals, it is shown that the resonator can fully compensate the thermopolarization effect in the active element and in the crystals.
