Investigation of spectral classification criteria and temperature scale of spectral classes. II. Analysis of spectral criteria.
Abstract
The observed equivalent line widths Wλ and sets of quantitative spectral classification criteria for stars are analyzed for three spectral intervals (O8 - B1, B1 - B3, B3 - A0) and the corresponding effective temperatures (32,000 - 25,000, 25,000 - 17,000, 17,000 - 10,000K). Calculations of the equivalent widths of the lines making up the spectral classification criteria for these temperature ranges are given. An analysis is also provided of the errors in determining the effective temperature on the basis of these criteria, when there is indeterminacy in choosing the parameters of the atmosphere models.
