Effect of the finite nature of a cylindrical shell on the backscattering amplitude
Abstract
A calculation is made of the radiation impedance of a finite cylindrical region. It is shown that the use of the radiation impedance of an infinite cylindrical region to determine the backscattering amplitude of a plane acoustic wave on a finite shell may sometimes lead to significant errors. The radiation impedance expression obtained here is free of this shortcoming.
