A method for predicting the family of short fatigue crack growth curves
Abstract
The paper describes a method for predicting the family of short fatigue-crack-growth (SFCG) curves, which uses a SFCG equation developed by Navarro and de los Rios (1988) and thus can account not only for the intrinsic variance of the crack growth but also for the relevance of the applied stress. The method can be used for predicting the SFCG behavior in damage-tolerant designs and for safe life estimations of the components in compact structures.
