The spin vector of asteriod 10 Hygiea
Abstract
Photoelectric lightcurves of asteriod 10 Hygiea from the 1985, 1988, and 1989 apparitions are presented. A sidereal rotation period of 27.65909 h was obtained. This is much longer than previously published values. The spin vector has ecliptic coordinates close to one of the two solutions (lamba-0 = 299 deg, beta-0 = -39 deg) and (lamba 0 = 112 deg, beta- 0 = -41 deg). An ellipsoidal model of Hygiea has axis ratios of about a/b = 1.36 and b/c = 1.04.
