The shifts in the gravity centers of energy levels of rare Earth ions due to crystal field
Abstract
The shifts in the gravity centers of energy levels of Er(exp 3+) in Y3Al5O12 caused by J-mixing are calculated. These shifts are as large as tens of cm(exp -1). We fit the levels with Racah parameters E(exp 1), E(exp 2), E(exp 3), and spin-orbital coupling constant (xi), and compare the results with and without taking into account these shifts.
