True multi-radar tracking for air defence C3 systems
Abstract
The application of nonlinear measurement vector situation to multiple target tracking using a global modelling algorithm is discussed. It is a relatively simple recursive method to solve data association and target maneuver problems simultaneously. The individual estimation process based on each hypothesis done on a bank of extended Kalman filters can be implemented using a parallel processing structure. Bias errors, slant range errors, processing administration, and automatic track initiation are discussed, and the approach to these problems used in a recently developed commercial system is briefly considered. Simulation results show that this algorithm is capable of tracking multiple maneuvering targets over a wide range of conditions.
