The turbulence burst detection algorithm of Z. Zaric
Abstract
The turbulence burst detection algorithm of Zaric (1982, 1984) is applied to the analysis of a turbulent flow of air in a channel, at different distances from the channel wall. It is shown that the technique is capable of highly accurate one-to-one detection of ejections, sweeps, and quiet periods and that it makes it possible to determine the length and the nature of these periods. A simplified version of the Zaric detection algorithm termed TERA, is developed, which is shown to yield quite accurate results. Flow charts of the Zaric and the TERA algorithms are presented.
