Sound radiation by limited elastic shells
Abstract
Theoretical treatment is given to the radiation of sound by a slender body of revolution in a field with attention given to the contributions of the geometrical and elastic properties of the shell. Expressions are derived to characterize the potential and amplitude of the radiated field in the wave zone. The expressions can be used to describe the sound radiation of the shells in special cases such as those with shells exhibiting axisymmetric vibration.
