Front-end electronics - An overview
Abstract
Some typical front-end configurations used with cryogenic detectors are analyzed concentrating the attention on the requirements that solid state devices must fulfill for the realization of high performance read-out channels regarding noise, speed, and operating temperature. A review on the main characteristics and noise sources in Si JFETs and GaAs Mesfets as well as a brief description of recently developed cryogenic preamplifiers are given.
