Alexandrite laser characterization and engineering evaluation
Abstract
The U.S. Army Missile Command, Research, Development, and Engineering Center, Directed Energy Directorate, recently acquired two repetitively pulsed alexandrite lasers for use in in-house test activities. This paper describes the characterization and engineering evaluation of these two lasers. Parameters such as energy output, efficiency, beam profile, temporal pulse shape, pulse width, divergence, linewidth, ASE/laser intensity ratios, lasing wavelength and stability are addressed.
