Prediction of film cooling with lateral injection
Abstract
A detailed study of the film cooling with lateral injection is presented in this paper. A laterally periodic three-dimensional parabolic procedure is used to investigate the effects of variations in the lateral angle of injection, the spacing between the holes, and the blowing rates on the film cooling effectiveness. Comparison with experimental data for the lateral injection is also presented. The study indicates that, unlike for the case of streamwise injection there is no blowing rate ceiling for the lateral injection. Thus, the lateral injection cooling has the potential to provide better cooling for higher blowing rates.
