Optimal N-impulse transfer trajectories between an arbitrary orbit and a V-infinity vector
Abstract
A general formulation is developed for determining the optimal N-impulse transfer trajectories between an arbitrary orbit and a V-infinity vector subject to equality constraints on the hyperbolic pericenter altitude and the total transfer time. The solution, based on Primer Vector theory, determines the optimal sequence of impulses such that the total delta-v is minimum, subject to the imposed constraints. The inverse solution is also available.
