A detailed model for transient liquid flow in heat pipe wicks
Abstract
A transinet one-dimensional model describing liquid flow in a low-temperature homogeneous wick heat pipe is proposed which allows for the continuous distribution of the liquid in the wick. Model predictions show a steep drop in saturation in the evaporator region of the wick, in agreement with experimental results obtained from a beryllium heat pipe. The measured distribution in the evaporator region is slightly different, which is explained by the nonideal nature of the heat input in the experiment.
