Cerenkov interaction of a tubular electron beam with a dielectric waveguide. II Nonlinear theory
Abstract
A nonlinear theory for the stationary generation of electromagnetic waves in a dielectric waveguide by a tubular relativistic electron beam is presented which allows for the space charge. Calculations are carried out for specific waveguide geometries, and determinations are made of the generation efficiency and optimal waveguide length as a function of the beam current and radius. It is shown that the highest efficiency is achieved in the case where the space charge field has a noticeable effect on the beamwave interaction.
