Kinetics of charged particles in a stochastic medium with long-wave fluctuations
Abstract
The kinetics of the spatial transport and of energy variations of charged particles interacting with large-scale electromagnetic fluctuations is examined. The diffusion coefficients of the particles are calculated by averaging the transport equation. Particular attention is given to the case of strong turbulence, when it becomes necessary to renormalize the kinetic coefficients obtained using perturbation theory. A method for calculating renormalized kinetic coefficients is proposed which is similar to the self-consistent field technique, in which coefficients are computed by solving the transcendental equations.
