A method for calculating three-dimensional shock interaction. I - Regular case
Abstract
Compatible conditions of three-dimensional contact surface are presented. An analytical calculation method of three-dimensional shock interaction and intersection between a conical shock and a plane oblique shock are also presented. The reflection of a conical shock on a plane surface and a plane oblique shock are calculated. It is concluded that the compatible conditions for three-dimensional contact surface are equal pressure of the gas on both sides of the contact surface, the same velocity component tangential to the intersection line, and a zero component normal to the contact surface. The three-dimensional shock intersection depends on the freestream Mach number and the angle between shocks and on the orientation of the intersection line. Also, the transition from regular to irregular intersection may occur along the intersection line.
