European Conference on Satellite Communications, 1st (ECSC-1), Munich, Federal Republic of Germany, Nov. 28-30, 1989, Selected Papers
Abstract
New satellite techniques including the application of multiple beam antennas, onboard processing, optical techniques, and intersatellite links are covered. The status of such European satellite systems as Eutelsat, DFS Kopernik, TV-Sat, and TDF 1 is reported. Modulation, multiple access, and coding techniques are discussed in the framework of system optimization and interference protection. C-band satellite antennas using beam shaping, Ka-band satellite and earth-station antennas are reviewed as well as future antenna concepts for data relay satellites and mobile terminals. Fault-tolerant processor design, demand assignment, signaling, and synchronization are presented, and multicarrier demodulators, mm-wave, and optical links are analyzed.
