Environment and pollution measurement sensors and systems; Proceedings of the European Congress on Optics, the Hague, Netherlands, Mar. 14, 15, 1990
Abstract
Topics covered in these proceedings on pollution measurement systems include water sensors, extinction, and scattering; atmospheric pollution measuring systems; fluorescence sensors; water sensors for hydrocarbons; and sea- and waste-water-monitoring systems. Papers are presented on a simple device for the measurement of light beam penetration through river water, atmospheric NH3 monitoring by long-path UV absorption spectroscopy, principles and operation of a mobile photoacoustic NH3 monitor, lidar measurements of atmospheric mercury, and the determination of nitrous oxide concentrations by spectroscopic method. Other papers include the use of a recording fluorometer for continuous measurement, fiber optic and time-resolving techniques in forest decline research, an optical system for detection and measurement of hydrocarbon in the ocean, and the use of space photographic survey for exploration of the earth's natural resources.
