The invariant imbedding method for the radiation transfer equation and description of finite beam scattering
Abstract
An invariant imbedding equation for the reflection coefficient of a plane scattering layer is presented which describes finite beams in terms of transfer theory. Reflection coefficient estimates are obtained for a half-space which make it possible to overcome the constraint of the plane wave approximation by taking account of the incident beam inhomogeneity.
