The use of ray-tracing representation in an extended parameter space to solve problems of wave propagation in inhomogeneous media
Abstract
A ray-tracing approach is described, in which the coordinate space 'evolves' from the initial radiation angles, thus making it possible to increase the information content of the results. The practical advantages of this approach are demonstrated on the example of calculations of the ionospheric propagation of radio waves on the Khabarovsk-Irkutsk path. The proposed method can also be used to investigate the field distribution of electromagnetic and acoustic waves in natural waveguides.
