Structural phase transitions in Jahn-Teller mixed crystals Dy xTb 1-x VO 4
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental research has been carried out on structural phase transitions in Dy xTb 1- xVO 4 crystals in which Jahn-Teller Dy 3+ and Tb 3+ ions cause spontaneous deformations of different symmetry. The structural phase transitions with long-range ordering have been shown to occur in the whole range of concentrations in the system under investigation. For x∼0.5 a phase with two coexisting spontaneous strains of different symmetry is realized.
