A continuous jet-type singlet oxygen generator
Abstract
Jet-type singlet oxygen generators, capable of producing pressures over 10 mm Hg, are considered as compact high-flow-rate singlet oxygen sources for the chemical oxygen-iodine laser. Here, results of an experimental study of a continuous jet-type single oxygen generator, using counterpropagating jets of chlorine and alkaline solution of hydrogen peroxide, are reported. It is shown that oxygen pressures of about 10 mm Hg are achieved for high oxygen contents (over 60 percent) in the working solution. The residual chlorine pressure decreases with an increase in the gas-liquid contact surface area.
