Gain distribution in an oxygen-iodine medium in the case of two-dimensional mixing of the components
Abstract
The two-dimensional flow of singlet oxygen in a plane nozzle with sidewall slit injection of iodine is calculated, and the disitribution of population-inversion characteristics over the nozzle cross section is obtained. It is shown that during the injection the iodine dissociates rapidly and the energy characteristics of the oxygen-iodine systems depend on the mixing rate. It is concluded that the injection through perforations in the nozzle sidewalls shows greater promise than slit injection in connection with the development of effective oxygen-iodine lasers.
