Registration and analysis of pulsation
Abstract
Hydromagnetic waves in the magnetospheric plasma are observed on the ground as short-period oscillations with amplitudes in the order of some nT. One possible method to measure pulsations with induction-coil-magnetometers and their application on the earth surface will be presented. The evaluation of the three-dimensional wave field occurs exclusively with numerical methods. For this kind of time series analysis the algorithm of the dynamic spectrum developed by Dziewonski (1969) will be applied. It is possible to show the results as pseudo-three-dimensional contour-plots. This technique will be illustrated by a selected pulsation event.
