Magnetism in Y 6Mn 23H x
Abstract
Susceptibility and magnetization measurements are reported for Y6Mn23Hx with x=17.4, 18.6, 22.0, 24.9, 28.8 and 32.4. Contrary to earlier conjecture, the paramagnetic to antiferromagnetic transition temperature is found to decrease from TN = 230 K ( x=17.4) to 180 K ( x>22.0) as the hydrogen content is increased. For x>28.8, and additional weak ferro- or ferrimagnetic signal ( TC = 200 K) is superimposed on the antiferromagnetic signal.
