Sub-band-gap superconductor absorption in Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer framework using the Mattis-Bardeen approach
Abstract
Closed-form expressions for losses in superconductors at photon energies well below the gap are found in the BCS framework using the Mattis-Bardeen approach, which has been found to agree well with high-Tc materials. This formulation supercedes an earlier one that is shown to be incorrect and that overestimates the loss at low temperatures and underestimates the loss at high temperatures.
