Ways to increase the critical temperature in Bi and Tl systems
Abstract
The possibility of obtaining monophase samples of HTSC compounds in the Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O and Tl-Ba-Ca-Cu-O systems with a maximum content of the high-temperature 2223 phase is investigated by varying the composition of the initial mixture, by thermal treatment conditions of solid state synthesis, and by additions of lead. The most uniform samples with a maximum content of 2223 phase are prepared from the 1234 initial composition. The properties of the resulting samples are described in detail. Tc values of about 125 and 108 K are found for the Tl and Bi compounds, respectively.
