Wave propagation in relativistic Extended Thermodynamics
Abstract
We classify the thermodynamical waves that propagate in a nonequilibrium gas governed by the field equations of relativistic extended thermodynamics. The calculations are carried out for a generic state function appropriate to monatomic ideal gases. In the particular cases of the nondegenerate gas specific wave speeds are calculated. In the limit of the nonrelativistic and the ultrarelativistic gas the results agree with those given before in literature.
