The effect of plate manipulator wakes on skin friction
Abstract
The paper presents an investigation of the influence of plate manipulator wakes on skin friction using the turbulence two-equation model. The results reveal that the reduction of skin friction results from the velocity defect of wake through limitations on different acting parameters. It is concluded that the wake could not be the main mechanism for the drag reduction attained by plate manipulators.
