Study of Sn-116 via neutron pickup and proton stripping reactions
Abstract
The nucleus Sn-116 was studied via the neutron pickup reactions Sn-117 (d,t) Sn-116 and Sn-117 (He-3,alpha) Sn-116 and via the proton stripping reactions In-115(He-3,d) Sn-116 and In-115(alpha,t) Sn-116. Spectroscopic factors were deduced from the Sn-116(d,t) and the In-115(He-3,d) reactions for final states in Sn-116 below E sub x = 3.8 MeV. By combining the l transfers, observed in these reactions, spin assignments for various states can be given or limits on them can be set. Spectroscopic factors and their fragmentation are compared with those derived from the broken pair model and from a large basis shell model calculation involving both neutron quasi-particle excitations and proton 1p-1h excitations.
