Arresting adsorbent abrasion and attrition
Abstract
The degradation of adsorbent effectiveness through abrasion and attrition can be prevented through the immobilization of the adsorbent granules with a suitable binder in a consolidated bed. Immobilization assures long service life and minimum system maintenance, while preventing the loss of adsorbent and the erosion of valve parts due to the action of adsorbent fines. Attention is given to immobilized beds for an oxygen generator which are composed of a molecular sieve and a fluoropolymer binder.
