Data fusion for SDI - A midcourse correlator/tracker algorithm
Abstract
The Naval Research Laboratory is engaged in the development of a tracker/correlator algorithm for the SDI midcourse phase of engagement. An algorithm which combines techniques from convectional statistical theory and problem-domain logic has been designed, implemented and tested. The algorithm employs a multihypothesis approach for developing alternative scenes which are formed from ambiguities inherent in the data fusion process. Each association of an incoming sensor observation report with a different previous track represents a hypothesis for that report. The paper will describe the algorithm architecture and its functionality, a plan for a parallel implementation and test results obtained from the current version of the software.
