Height measurements of VHF scattering irregularities in the E-region
Abstract
A system for measuring the backscattering irregularities of VHF radio waves from the auroral zone E layer is described. The complete interferometer is depicted and its mode of functioning is described. Experimental results using the results are generally at variance with the theoretical prediction that the height of maximum backscatter should occur at about 110 km.
