Negative ions in a dielectric medium
Abstract
A calculation is made of the energy of electron affinity for an atom placed into a polarizable dielectric medium. The interaction of atomic nuclei with electrons and the interaction between electrons is described in terms of the effective Coulomb potential (divided by static and high-frequency dielectric permittivities, respectively). The interaction between the electrons and the medium is described in terms of the Pekar polaron potential.
