Conjugate problems of heat transfer in fins (Review)
Abstract
Recent research related to heat transfer in fins and on finned surfaces under conjugate boundary conditions (boundary conditions of the fourth kind) is reviewed. In particular, two groups of studies are considered: those using numerical methods for solving the complete system of equations describing the conjugate problem and those using methods of reducing the conjugate problem to an equivalent heat conduction problem. Particular attention is given to a comparison of the solutions with results obtained by traditional approximate methods and to the estimation of errors associated with the use of boundary conditions of the third kind.
