Corpuscular character of the light and time delay in the process of stimulated emission
Abstract
Deformations of amplified laser pulses are usually being described with the help of the semi-classical theory starting from the wave character of light. It is shown that they can be equivalently described in a more comprehensive and consistent way on corpuscular grounds if at the same time a complex nature of excited atoms of laser medium is taken into account, which manifests itself by a time delay between stimulated and stimulating photons. The value of this delay in iodine photodissociation laser has been estimated to be 10-30 ps from the corresponding experimental data.
