A high-pressure O2 (1Delta) generator
Abstract
In the experimental study reported here, a pulsed jet generator of singlet oxygen was used to investigate the possibility of producing oxygen at high pressures (up to 100 mm Hg) with singlet oxygen contents of 50 percent and more, which is essential for improving the specific energy characteristics of oxygen-iodine lasers. It is shown that the use of low-temperature solutions with a low concentration of KOH makes it possible to obtain H2O/O2 ratios of 0.05 or less, which is required for the operation of oxygen-iodine lasers without a cooled trap. Results of a preliminary study of the effect of C3F7I on the formation of single oxygen in the generator are presented.
