A random sampling technique applied to INS error compensation
Abstract
The present random-sampling technique's application to instrument-output corrections in an inertial navigation system (INS) will both save processing time and allow greater INS design freedom. Attention is given to the illustrative case of the correction of errors induced in the output of an accelerometer due to quadratic nonlinearity, with a view to variants of this method and their comparative advantages. The scheme is shown to preclude problems of low-frequency beating in the compensation outputs, at the cost of introducing a tolerable level of white noise.
