Permanent rotations of a heavy rigid body in a magnetic field
Abstract
The permanent rotations of a heavy rigid body with ferromagnetic properties about a fixed point in a constant homogeneous magnetic field are investigated analytically for the case where the magnetic field is combined with a gravitational field. The gravitational field and the magnetic field are assumed to be parallel. Conditions are determined under which the motions of the body are stable or unstable.
