Theoretical study of low-lying 1Sigma + and 1Π states of CO. II. Transition dipole moments, oscillator strengths, and radiative lifetimes
Abstract
Transition dipole moments between five low-lying adiabatic states of CO, X 1Σ+, A 1Π, 2 1Σ+ (B 1Σ+ and D' 1Σ+), 3 1Σ+ (C 1Σ+ and C' 1Σ+) and 2 1Π (E 1Π), have been obtained. Ab initio calculations of the electronic energies and wave functions for these states have been reported by us previously. The calculated oscillator strengths and radiative lifetimes are compared with various measurements of these quantities. These comparisons are complicated by the large discrepancies among the experimental measurements, apparent even in the most recent studies.
