Statistical characteristics of transfer processes in a wall turbulent shear flow
Abstract
Various types of the moments of velocity and temperature fluctuations in a wall turbulent shear flow were investigated using the apparatus described by Hishida and Nagano (1979), and the statistical characteristics of these moments were analyzed theoretically. Multidimensional joint probability density functions were developed for quantities controlling transport phenomena. The validity of the theory was verified by applying it to the prediction of experimental results on the probability density distributions of higher-order moments. Particular attention was given to the study of third-order moments, because measurements of their probability density distributions are few.
