Photovoltaic solar collector array sizing without a computer
Abstract
This paper analyzes data from various photovoltaic solar energy systems using the PV F-Chart, a computer program for analyzing the performance of such systems. The data are displayed in graphical form and depict the fraction of the annual energy load supplied by the solar energy system versus a dimensionless parameter which is a function of insolation, collector area, concentration ratio, and electrical demand load. These graphs permit a researcher or designer to estimate what percentage of the load can be supplied by solar energy for a specific array of photovoltaic solar collectors without the need for a computer analysis.
