Hα Spatial Coverage of Hubble's Nebula
Abstract
Narrow band filter CCD images of R Mon/NGC 2261 (Hubble's Variable Nebula) were obtained during the 1985/1986 and 1986/1987 observing season. The H-alpha filter has a halfwidth of 38 Å and centered at 6563 Å. The authors used a filter centered at 6775 Å and a half-width of 1034 Å to sample the continuum. Images constructed by scaling and subtracting the continuum images from selected H-alpha images show that the majority of the H-alpha emission is centered on R Mon and not in the nebula.
