Structure, aims, and future prospects of the ionospheric service
Abstract
A general description of the history, development, and operation of the ionospheric service is given. The structure and parameters of the ionosphere are briefly discussed, and ground-based and satellite observation techniques are examined. Finally, the role of theoretical models in the global system of ionospheric monitoring is considered.
