Hybrid mode satellite radiodetermination
Abstract
A hybrid technique which employs passive measurements in conjunction with centralized calculations of positions is described. This technique fits well within an evolutionary scenario where in Inmarsat begins by offering position reporting (dependent surveillance) services, then expands to include the hybrid service (in conjunction with GPS and possibly GLONASS signals), and still later is able to provide a full range of communications, navigation, and surveillance services.
