The theory of wave propagation in nonlinear nondispersive fluctuating media
Abstract
The scattering of nondispersing (sound) waves in nonlinear media with fluctuating parameters is studied. A multiscale asymptotic method is used to derive an evolutionary equation describing the propagation of coherent pulses or periodic waves. It is shown that the mean-field method can only be applied to linear problems.
